A Wiesn Volksfest Holiday
Talk of warm summer events and I will tell one which is absolutely incredible. The more than a fortnight event is a complete blast and will leave you and your friends or family yearning for more.
My name is Fred Smith and on the summer holiday of 2008, my co-worker Wilbur and a close friend Ludburg visited the Oktoberfest festival in Munich, Germany. This beer festival and travelling funfair was one event we had been planning to attend for long and our dreams came thru that year when we attended the 16-day traditional festival.
If you don’t know about this festival, it is a celebration of the Bavarian Culture held annually and attracts millions of both tourist and locals who gather to have fun. Part of the fun is imbuing the traditionally brewed beer, some delicious cuisines of traditionally prepared foods (all of Bavarian culture) as well as having outdoor fun which includes riding rollercoasters, sidestalls and other games.
This means that every day was a new day and it would present an opportunity for one to enjoy and experiment in a new activity or traditional foods and drinks hence there won’t be any complaint of a boring day or cases or sticking to repetitive activities during the duration.
An Inspiration to Preserve Culture Yielded to Business Talks
It was on the fifth day of the event that I met a business partner whom to date we have worked harmoniously together. That day, as usual we had gotten accustomed to wake up and drink several pints of beer, just enough to make as sober, – mind you, I often thinks that Wilbur worships beer because of his innate appetite for it – before proceeding to the activities as we have prior planned and scheduled.
After the beer we proceeded on as scheduled before we came across a stall selling traditional Bavarian hats (tirolerhutes) which are usually worn by visitors during the cevent. Although a bit expensive, I thought that they looked nice and after fitting one I decided to purchase it. My friends not wanting to be left behind followed suit and acquired theirs.
That day we had planned to visit the Oktoberfest rides and roller coasters. As we chatted playfully on our there, we came across some Italians who donned the same hats and were heading there too. We exchanged pleasantries and together we proceeded to the rides arena as we discussed our different backgrounds and interests.
It is through our conversations that I came to be acquitted to Mr. Simone who we later became friends. With due course, I learnt of his business interests in my country, Ireland, and that became the beginning of company that we founded together after the event.
Fun is the Ultimate Goal of Holidaying
During our stay at the festival, we not only drunk beer, donned traditional hats and made friends and business connections but we also strengthened our bonds as friends while we had fun. From the pop music in the evening to the reggae events which would be played till morning, we made sure that we enjoyed ourselves to the fullest. Maybe in the future we will schedule a trip to that place and see what the festival holds for us in these modern times.
Looking to have fun any summer, then you need to try this event.
